The site Works as an excellent vpn, especially when you use it in tandem with a scrambler such as disconnect, and use a bacup vpn such as betternet.

It’s working well enough for me so far. A quick trip to the US connection allows me to stream US Netflix to my Chromebook. I’m also guessing if I connect to the UK connection, it’ll act like a near-local standard VPN connection in securing my browsing session. No complaints at all. However, I also appreciate that it won’t be like this forever. As soon as DotVPN have enough free subscribers, they’ll make the free access next to unusable and hope that everyone buys a subscription. Who knows, if the price is right, I might do just that! :) After all, traditional VPNs on Chromebooks are rubbish right now. I’ve yet to find a more elegant solution than DotVPN.

Installed because the university proxy server isn’t working properly, preventing me from working. This is the only extension that worked, and it works exceptionally well - very fast.

I have no idea why this one is not at the top of the list of VPNs for Chrome as it works admirably. I’ve tried a bunch from the top list but they were hardly ideal. I just love how quickly it gets you connected. You also can chose between various locations. It is kinda amazing when you realize we are talking about a free VPN here. Sure the speeds will suffer as is the nature of all VPNs because of the re-routing of packets, but I was more than happy with the speed I got. The only problem I faced is sometimes simply disconnecting from the VPN does not revert it back to your regular networks. A quick restart in Chrome does the job though. A little bit annoying but I am sure it won’t take much to fix it. Bottomline: You are getting a premium-like VPN experience without the need to go premium.
